Thousands of Apple iPhone users faced issues with iMessage on Thursday, experiencing difficulties in sending messages through the platform. According to outage tracker Downdetector, a significant number of Apple users reported iMessage outages early Thursday evening.
The iMessage disruption is impacting communication between Apple users, with over 13,000 outages reported in the U.S. after 6 pm ET. Similar widespread outages were also observed in Canada and the U.K.
Although Apple’s system status did not initially indicate any problems with iMessage or other services, an update around 7 pm ET acknowledged that some users were indeed affected and unable to utilize iMessage and FaceTime.
While the cause of the outages remains unclear, some users have found success in sending messages by resending them, as reported by The Verge. Apple has not yet responded to requests for comments from Axios.
