Another Code: Recollection Remastered Edition Coming to Nintendo Switch

Another Code: Recollection brings cult classic mystery games to the Switch, updating two games originally released on the Nintendo DS and Wii to feel thoroughly modern. For a while, the Nintendo DS was the go-to platform for mystery games, with popular titles like the Ace Attorney series and Professor Layton. Among these was a small studio called Cing, which released Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and Trace Memory (known as Another Code outside of North America) for the DS, both of which have since gained cult status.

Now, Another Code is being given a second chance with a remastered edition for the Switch, bundling the original game with its sequel, A Journey into Lost Memories, which was never officially released in North America. This presents an opportunity for fans of the original game to experience the complete story for the first time.

Both games are visual novels with a focus on puzzles, featuring intricately locked doors and complex machines. The series follows the story of Ashley, a girl who receives an invitation from her supposedly deceased father to meet on Blood Edward Island just before her 14th birthday. There, she encounters an amnesiac ghost named D and together they unravel the island’s secrets, including the truth about Ashley’s parents and D’s lost memories. The sequel continues the story, introducing even more secrets during a camping trip in the woods.

Notably, the remaster seamlessly integrates both games, creating a cohesive storytelling experience. In addition to this, the package includes several other changes and updates.
