According to the filings made by Jolie’s lawyers, Pitt allegedly engaged in physical abuse towards Jolie and their children before the infamous plane trip from France to Los Angeles in September 2016. The court motion filed by Jolie’s legal team seeks to release communications that they assert would demonstrate Pitt’s refusal to allow Jolie to sell her share of the winery unless she agreed to a more stringent non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
The filing from Jolie’s legal team states, ‘While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him.’
These revelations have sparked a heated exchange of statements between the legal representatives of both parties. A friend of Pitt involved in the litigation over the years has denounced Jolie’s claims as ‘misleading, inaccurate, and irrelevant information as a distraction’ whenever decisions go against her. The friend further highlighted that despite a lengthy custody trial and a judge who heard all the evidence granting Pitt 50/50 custody, Jolie’s team continues to introduce contentious information.
According to Jolie’s legal team, the winery lawsuit could have been avoided if Pitt had purchased her share when she initially offered it. On the other hand, a filing from Pitt’s legal team in June 2023 asserts that it was Jolie who proposed an even broader non-disparagement clause as part of the deal. Pitt’s team purportedly presented a narrower clause intended to protect the business.
