American Express (Amex) recently disclosed a data breach that impacted some of its cardholders. The company assured that its own systems were secure and the breach originated from a third-party merchant processor. According to a report by Cybernews, Amex filed a precautionary data breach notification with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. The incident was not caused by a data breach at American Express or any of its service providers. The breach may have exposed card member names, account numbers, and expiration dates.
