Alabama Head Football Coach Kalen DeBoer has made significant coaching staff changes by promoting Freddie Roach and Robert Gillespie. Roach has been named associate head coach, while Gillespie has been tabbed as assistant head coach. These changes were announced by DeBoer, who emphasized the importance of retaining both Roach and Gillespie for the team’s success.
Freddie Roach, an alum of the university, will now take on the role of associate head coach in addition to coaching the Crimson Tide’s defensive line. Roach has an impressive track record, having sent four of his Alabama defensive linemen to the NFL, with Justin Eboigbe expected to join that list this season.
Robert Gillespie, who has been coaching the running backs at Alabama for the past four years, will now also serve as the assistant head coach. He has successfully nurtured three NFL running backs at UA, including first-round picks Jahmyr Gibbs and Najee Harris, along with Washington Commanders starter Brian Robinson Jr. Jase McClellan is also expected to join this list in April.
While the proposed appointment terms and conditions have been communicated to the appropriate members of The Board of Trustees, the financial terms are subject to approval by The Board of Trustees.
