Alabama Guard Rylan Griffen’s Availability Uncertain for SEC Tournament

Alabama basketball guard Rylan Griffen’s availability for the upcoming SEC Tournament remains uncertain as coach Nate Oats revealed that Griffen will be a game-time decision for Friday’s game. The guard has been sidelined with a calf injury, with Oats expressing hope that Griffen might be able to play on Friday.

Following his injury during the Florida game, Griffen missed the subsequent Arkansas game, wearing a medical boot and street clothes. Oats had initially labeled Griffen as day-to-day with a calf strain, but expressed optimism after receiving positive MRI results before the Arkansas game.

Griffen’s absence would be a significant blow for Alabama, as he has been a key contributor this season, averaging 11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game over 26.3 minutes.

With a double bye in the SEC Tournament, Alabama, seeded No. 3, is set to play its first game on Friday, following the conclusion of the first evening game. The team will aim to defend its tournament title in Nashville, the venue for this year’s SEC Tournament.
