Oreo’s St. Patrick’s Day Contest Celebrates Mint Frozen Treats

Oreo is making a splash this St. Patrick’s Day by promoting its mint-flavored frozen treats with a fun and wholesome contest. From March 15-17, the brand is encouraging consumers to capture the magic of rainbows in the wild and share their photos on Instagram for a chance to win a pot of Oreo frozen desserts.

The contest celebrates Oreo’s commitment to innovation in the frozen treats aisle. Just two years after the launch of its ice cream line extension, and one year after introducing its popular mint Oreo flavored ice cream, the brand has expanded its product line to include Oreo Mint Bars, Oreo Mint Sandwiches, and 14 oz. ice cream tubs.

While many brands are focusing on the more traditional, alcohol-fueled celebrations of St. Patrick’s Day, Oreo is taking a more family-friendly approach that aligns with its wholesome image. By tapping into the Irish myth of finding a leprechaun’s pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, Oreo is cleverly tying its mint ice cream’s green color to the holiday without the need for partying or bar-hopping.

To participate in the contest, consumers simply need to snap a picture of a rainbow in nature over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend and post it to Instagram Stories, tagging @oreo and using the hashtags #OreoFrozenTreats and #Sweepstakes. For those who haven’t spotted a rainbow, they can still enter the contest by following the brand on Instagram and using the brand’s photo.

This promotion coincides with the introduction of three new Oreo mint ice cream extensions: Mint Bars, Mint Sandwiches, and 14 oz. mint tubs. Previously only available in 48 oz. tubs, these new products are a testament to Oreo’s ongoing commitment to reinventing its fan-favorite cookie and expanding its unique frozen treats line.

Caroline Suppiger, senior associate brand manager for Oreo U.S., expressed the brand’s excitement about the expansion, stating, “It’s been two years since the Oreo brand first debuted in the freezer aisle, but we aren’t slowing down. Oreo as a brand is always testing new ways to reinvent our unique and fan-favorite cookie. This philosophy extends to the Frozen Treats line as well, which is why this year we are so excited to expand our Oreo Mint portfolio with three new products.”
