Russell Wilson Meeting with Multiple Teams as Free Agent

Quarterback Russell Wilson is on the move, and teams are lining up to court the free agent. According to sources, Wilson met with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday and had an exploratory meeting with the New York Giants on Thursday. It is reported that he is also expected to meet with other teams, including the Las Vegas Raiders.

Wilson, who is set to be released by the Denver Broncos at the start of the league year, has been granted permission to speak and meet with other teams in their home cities. The Steelers currently have only 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett under contract at quarterback, with Mason Rudolph entering free agency after starting three games for Pittsburgh last season.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan expressed confidence in Pickett at the NFL scouting combine, stating, ‘We are excited about Kenny and excited about the impact that [new OC] Arthur Smith is going to have on the offense and on Kenny.’ However, both Khan and coach Mike Tomlin have indicated their intention to bring in competition for Pickett, while also expressing interest in bringing back Rudolph.

On the other hand, the Giants are also in the market for a quarterback, with Daniel Jones rehabbing a torn ACL and backup Tyrod Taylor set to become a free agent. The team has stated their intention to add a quarterback this offseason, whether through free agency or the draft.

The Broncos announced their decision to release Wilson on Monday, marking the end of a tumultuous two-season run which saw the team struggle to make the playoffs under his leadership.
