As the 2024 Oscars approach, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominations have sparked intense dialogue on social media about the nominees for the film industry’s highest honor. Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” leads the nominations with 13 nods, followed by Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things” with 11 and Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” with 10. Scorsese now holds the record for the most Oscar nominations for a living director.

Additionally, Justine Triet could become the fourth woman to win Best Director if she wins for her film “Anatomy of a Fall.” This year also marks the first Oscars season to require Best Picture nominees to meet at least two out of four of the Academy’s new representation and inclusion standards.
