Caykur Rizespor and Hatayspor are set to clash in a Turkish Super Lig match this Saturday, with both teams aiming for crucial points for different reasons.
Caykur Rizespor has been on an impressive seven-game unbeaten streak in all competitions since their Super Lig loss against Gaziantep on November 6. This streak has put them in contention for European spots, with four victories and three draws in the past six weeks, including a 2-2 draw against Kasimpasa in their recent Christmas day visit. Adolfo Gaich’s brace helped Rizespor secure the draw, showcasing their resilience.
Despite being promoted back to the top flight this year after a brief stint in the second division, Rizespor has been performing solidly and currently holds the seventh spot in the standings, just three points behind fourth-placed Kayserispor. Their home form has been particularly strong, with over 65% of their total points earned from home matches. They have only suffered one defeat at the Caykur Didi Stadium so far, at the hands of Galatasaray.
On the other hand, Hatayspor had a strong start to the 2023-24 campaign, being unbeaten after the first eight matches with three wins and five draws. However, their form took a downturn since the October international break, with only one win in their last nine matches, along with two draws and six losses. In their most recent match, they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Besiktas, marking their fifth consecutive league match without a win. Currently, they are positioned 13th in the league standings with 19 points, just two points ahead of the relegation zone.
While Hatayspor has shown decent form at home, their away performances have been lackluster, with only one win on the road this season, along with four defeats and four draws.
With Caykur Rizespor’s Turkish Super Lig form standing at WDWDWD and Hatayspor’s at WLDLDL, the upcoming clash between the two teams promises to be an intriguing battle as they both strive for a positive result.
