Philadelphia Union Competing in Concacaf Champions Cup for Third Time in Club History

Philadelphia Union is back in the spotlight as they compete for continental bragging rights in the Concacaf Champions Cup for the third time in club history. After a remarkable 6-5 aggregate series victory over Deportivo Saprissa in Round One, the Boys in Blue are gearing up to face off CF Pachuca in the Round of 16.

The first leg of the match against Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica saw Julian Carranza’s breakout performance with a second-half hat trick, propelling the Union into the lead with a 3-2 margin. The final leg at Subaru Park saw Mikael Uhre’s series-clinching goal in the 94th minute, securing their spot in the Round of 16.

The upcoming two-leg series against CF Pachuca will kick off at Subaru Park on Tuesday, March 5th at 7PM, followed by the second leg in Mexico on Tuesday, March 12th at 8:15PM ET.

Fans can now purchase tickets for the Round of 16 match against Liga MX’s CF Pachuca, which will be hosted by the Boys in Blue on Tuesday, March 5th.

The Concacaf Champions Cup is a prestigious tournament that determines the best club in North America. It features clubs from across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, combining league campaigns with this tournament from February to June 2nd. Teams from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Panama, and more participate in this highly anticipated event.

The Concacaf Champions Cup Format

The tournament comprises five rounds: Round One, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Final. The first four stages involve home and away legs, guaranteeing a home match at Subaru Park for the Union in every round until the Final. The Final will be a single-elimination championship.

A total of 27 teams will participate in the Concacaf Champions Cup, with 22 teams competing in Round One. Notably, Club America, Chivas, and Herediano have already secured victories in the previous series, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
