US Wrestling Star Michael Jones, aka Virgil, Vincent, and Soul Train Jones, Dies at 61

US wrestling star Michael Jones, also known as Virgil, Vincent, and Soul Train Jones, has passed away at the age of 61. The news was announced by wrestling referee Mark Charles III, professionally known as The Count, on social media.

Michael Jones gained fame through his work in the World Wresting Federation (WWF) during the 1980s and 1990s. He initially started wrestling professionally as Soul Train Jones before rebranding himself as Virgil, the bodyguard for Ted DiBiase, also known as The Million Dollar Man.

After leaving WWF, Jones worked for the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) under the persona Vincent. He later retired due to injury and continued to make independent appearances as his various personas until his health began to deteriorate.

In 2022, Jones revealed that he had dementia and colon cancer, and had suffered a number of strokes. Fundraising pages were set up to help with his medical expenses. Following his death, tributes poured in from the wrestling community, including WWE Hall of Fame inductee Jake “The Snake” Roberts and fellow WWE star Luke Gallows.

The passing of Michael Jones, a prominent figure in the world of professional wrestling, has deeply saddened the wrestling community and fans alike. His contributions to the sport will be remembered and cherished.
