Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Receives Surprise Patch Adding More Clothes to Tifa
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has received a surprise patch ahead of its sequel’s launch, adding more clothes to Tifa during certain scenes. The original game only covers a small portion of the storyline, ending as the party leaves Midgar, so the developers didn’t need all the designs planned out for characters and locations appearing in future installments.
One area planned for a future game did appear in Final Fantasy VII Remake, but only in brief scenes. Cloud has flashbacks to the Nibelheim Incident, where Sephiroth goes on a rampage and destroys his hometown. The Nibelheim flashback is featured prominently in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and its demo, resulting in a design change made for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth being retroactively applied to Final Fantasy VII Remake.
According to the game’s Steam page, a surprise patch has been released for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergade, with the main change involving Tifa’s outfit during the Nibelheim flashback. In the original game, the younger version of Tifa wearing a cowboy outfit was seen in brief flashbacks. However, her design was altered in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to give her a black undershirt, covering her cleavage. The patch not only changes Tifa’s outfit in all of the flashback scenes but also changes the end credits, likely to add the names of those responsible for the edit.
While some are referring to this change as censorship, it’s simply bringing Tifa’s appearance in line with the finalized design in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. However, PC players can at least be annoyed by changes made to accommodate a sequel that still doesn’t have a release date on their platform.
