UConn Students Show Unwavering Support for Huskies as ESPN’s College GameDay Returns to Storrs
UConn students showed their unwavering support for the Huskies as ESPN’s College GameDay Show returned to Storrs for the first time since 2014. The campus was abuzz with excitement ahead of the Big East match up against Villanova.
Despite the early hours and chilly weather, students and fans eagerly gathered at Gampel Pavilion, displaying their enthusiasm with face paint, posters, and even camping outside for hours. The palpable energy and dedication were evident as doors to Gampel opened at 8:30 a.m., with some students having lined up as early as 3 a.m. to witness the live broadcast right on the court.
For many, the opportunity to be part of ESPN’s show was a dream come true. The sense of pride and passion for the team was unmistakable, with one student expressing, ‘To say that we’re passionate about the team is an understatement.’
As the day unfolded, the stands filled with students and fans, eagerly anticipating the kickoff at 10 a.m. It was a long but undeniably memorable day for all involved, marking the fourth time ESPN’s college pregame show graced Storrs with its presence.
