Razer has announced exciting updates for its Blade 16 and Blade 18 gaming laptops, with major display upgrades set to be unveiled at CES next week. The Blade 16 will feature a groundbreaking 16-inch 240Hz OLED panel co-developed with Samsung, while the Blade 18 will come with a 165Hz 4K LED panel with G-Sync. Both displays will be Calman Verified and individually factory calibrated, showcasing 100 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut.
The Razer 16’s 2560 x 1600 OLED display promises exceptional true blacks and rapid response time, boasting a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, and a VESA ClearMR 11000 rating for motion blur. On the other hand, the Blade 18’s panel update offers a trade-off of refresh rate for resolution, with the current 2560 x 1600, 240Hz panel being upgraded to a 4K resolution at 165Hz, supported by a high refresh rate, 3ms response time, and G-Sync, eliminating screen tearing and enabling smooth gameplay even at 4K resolution.
Razer’s emphasis on factory calibrating every panel, reducing motion blur, and ensuring 100 percent DCI-P3 support aims to attract users who seek a single machine for gaming and photo or video editing. However, it faces competition from the MacBook Pro, known for its brightness reaching up to 600 nits in normal use with peaks of 1600 nits in HDR mode, a feature for which Razer did not provide specific details.
