A Cheshire-based brewery, Tatton Brewery, located near Tatton Park in Knutsford, has announced its sudden closure after 14 years of operation. The family-run brewery took to social media to share the news, citing ‘unprecedented increases’ in the cost of living, fuel prices, and raw materials as the reasons behind the decision.
The brewery expressed that remaining open was ‘no longer viable’ in the current economic climate. The emotional post on Facebook outlined the challenges faced, stating, “After 14 years of brewing, we’ve come to the end of the road. With unprecedented increases in the cost of living, fuel prices, raw materials, and many other factors, coupled with Gregg wishing to take a step back from the business due to family responsibilities, it is no longer viable for us to carry on.”
Tatton Brewery is set to cease trading on Thursday 29th February, leaving behind a legacy of providing beer to venues across the North West. The team expressed their gratitude to everyone who had supported the brewery throughout its years of operation, acknowledging the support of staff and customers.
The closure of Tatton Brewery serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by businesses in the current economic climate, particularly within the brewing industry. The impact of rising costs and personal responsibilities on the decision to cease trading reflects the broader struggles experienced by small businesses in the face of economic pressures.
