PepsiCo’s Doritos Rainbow Earns Good Design Award for Commitment to Diversity and Respect
For the 2023 Pride Festival, PepsiCo Design & Innovation has demonstrated a strong commitment to diversity and respect, earning recognition in the form of a Good Design Award. The award-winning initiative, Doritos Rainbow, is a powerful symbol of support for the LGBTQ+ community, and a challenge against prejudice.
The limited-edition Doritos Rainbow 2022 packaging design was specifically developed for Pride Month and the Pride festival in Brazil. It stands out with bold features that emphasize respect for diversity. The packaging design showcases a clean white background adorned with a stylized rainbow and the colors of the LGBTQ+ flag. The words ‘RESPECT, LOVE, FREEDOM, PRIDE’ are incorporated in a hand-drawn typographic font, adding a personal touch to the strong statement of support.
A striking element of the design is a stylized fingerprint, symbolizing recognition of LGBTQ+ identities and particularly voicing support for the Trans community. In addition to the award-winning packaging design, a limited edition satin white bomber jacket was created, featuring rainbow-inspired lines and the core messaging in an artistic typeface, along with a large stylistic fingerprint on the shoulder as a symbol of recognition and respect for diversity.
With initiatives like Doritos Rainbow, PepsiCo Design & Innovation continues to champion the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and promote respect for diversity, not just during Pride Festival, but throughout the year.
