Boston Celtics Pursuing 2029 NBA All-Star Game

The Boston Celtics are aiming to bring the NBA All-Star Game to their city in 2029, marking the first time since 1964 that Boston would host the prestigious event. Rich Gotham, the president of the Celtics, expressed strong confidence in the city’s prospects of securing the All-Star Game.

Gotham revealed that Boston, in coordination with the Celtics’ All-Star application, is actively working towards making the 2029 NBA All-Star Game a reality. The NBA’s upcoming All-Star Games are scheduled for San Francisco in 2025, Los Angeles in 2026, and Phoenix in 2027, with a potential scheduling conflict in 2028, making 2029 a likely year for the event.

The league has shown keen interest in Boston’s application, recognizing the city as a significant location for the All-Star Game. The Celtics’ pursuit of hosting the event began prior to the pandemic and has gained momentum in recent years, with collaborative efforts involving the NBA, the city of Boston, the state of Massachusetts, TD Garden, and Meet Boston.

Gotham emphasized the competitiveness of the All-Star application process, with half of the league’s teams vying for the opportunity to host the prestigious game. Despite the stiff competition, there is widespread enthusiasm and support for bringing the NBA All-Star Game back to Boston, and the Celtics are actively engaged in the process.
