Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has reached a significant sales milestone, with over 10 million copies sold as of February 4, 2024. This achievement solidifies the game’s position as a top performer in the gaming industry.
Earlier, Sony had announced that Spider-Man 2 became the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game within a 24-hour period, surpassing 2.5 million copies in a day. This record-breaking sales figure propelled Spider-Man 2 ahead of Sony Santa Monica’s God of War Ragnarok, securing the top spot on the PlayStation day-one launch sales chart.
Following this, the game continued its remarkable sales trajectory, reaching five million copies sold after just 11 days on the market. Now, Sony has confirmed that it has surpassed the 10 million mark after 107 days on sale. To provide a comparison, the original Marvel’s Spider-Man, released on PlayStation 4 in 2018, achieved nine million copies sold after 80 days and 13.2 million after 325 days.
The game’s success comes amidst revelations from data leaked from Insomniac late last year, which indicated internal concerns about the rising costs of the developer’s games. Despite these challenges, Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 has proven to be a resounding success, capturing the hearts of gamers and achieving remarkable sales figures.
