BMW Introduces Manual Gearbox in Z4 M40i, Showcases Staggered Wheels

BMW is making waves in the automotive world with the introduction of a manual gearbox in the Z4 M40i, a move that has enthusiasts buzzing with excitement. The iconic M Performance roadster is now proudly flaunting its three-pedal setup at the Welt in Munich, showcasing the stylish convertible in all its Individual glory. Adorned in the striking Frozen Deep Green matte paint, previously popularized by the M5 CS, this manual Z4 M40i is a sight to behold.

But that’s not all – in addition to the manual transmission, BMW is also rolling out staggered wheels for the Z4 M40i. The car is now equipped with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloys, showcasing a double-spoke design with glossy black accents, a standard feature on the Pure Impulse Edition in Europe. This departure from the norm of mixed-size M lightweight wheels reserved for full-fat M cars further sets the Z4 M40i apart.

While the manual Z4 M40i may bear a striking resemblance to its American counterpart, there are notable differences under the hood. Due to stricter emissions regulations in Europe, the B58 engine in the European version produces 335 horsepower, whereas its North American counterpart boasts a more powerful 382 hp. However, both variants share the same torque rating of 369 lb-ft (500 Nm), ensuring that the manual model delivers an equally exhilarating driving experience.

BMW has made it clear that the enhancements introduced in the manual model will remain exclusive to it, with no plans to integrate them into the automatic version. Specific chassis tuning, a new bespoke anti-roll bar clamp at the front, adjusted software for the variable steering, and revised mapping for the electronic control of the rear dampers are among the bespoke modifications. Furthermore, the traction control system and M Sport differential have been fine-tuned to offer a unique driving experience.
