The Supersonic r is 30 percent smaller and 20 percent lighter, weighing 325g or 11oz, making it more maneuverable and suitable for the rigorous demands of professional stylists. The design changes, including an ‘r-shaped’ form factor, were driven by feedback from stylists who highlighted the need for better visibility, easy angle adaptation, and reduced wrist strain during prolonged use.
One of the key engineering feats of the Supersonic r is the miniaturization of its motor to fit into the handle of the device. This, coupled with a glass bead thermistor and an embedded temperature sensor, enables precise heat monitoring and control.
