Ted Karras’ Cincy Hat Initiative Raises $1.3 Million for Village of Merici

Cincinnati Bengal Ted Karras has been making a significant impact in the heart of Cincinnati by championing the Village of Merici, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering adults with developmental disabilities. Through his Cincy Hat initiative, Karras has raised an impressive $1.3 million in revenue, with half of the proceeds being reinvested into the Village of Merici.

The funds generated by the Cincy Hat initiative have played a crucial role in the organization’s expansion plans, including the construction of 37 condos and a new development in Carmel, featuring 40 apartment units and support services. The Village currently serves hundreds of adults with developmental disabilities and has a waitlist of 300 people seeking its services.

Individuals like Mary McClamroch and David Cheng have experienced life-changing personal growth and a sense of community through the Village’s programs. David Cheng expressed, ‘The Village has given me the chance to live independently and make friends, which has made a world of difference in my life.’ Similarly, Mary McClamroch shared, ‘The support I receive here is invaluable. I feel valued and empowered, and that has truly transformed my life.’

Ted Karras’ dedication to the cause has earned him a nomination for the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year award for his outstanding work with the Cincy Hat initiative. If successful, Karras would become the fourth Bengal to receive this prestigious honor.
