Two JetBlue planes collided on the tarmac at Boston Logan International Airport on Thursday morning, causing damage to one aircraft’s winglet and the other aircraft’s tail section. The incident resulted in the grounding of both planes for repairs and impacted two flights.
No injuries were reported by passengers or crew members on either aircraft, and both flights, JetBlue Flight 777 to Las Vegas and JetBlue Flight 551 to Orlando, Florida, will operate on other aircraft following the collision.
JetBlue emphasized that safety is its priority and stated that it will work to determine how and why the incident occurred. A passenger onboard the flight to Las Vegas captured video of the airline wing’s damage, providing a visual account of the collision.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident and announced that it will continue to investigate the collision. The air traffic control tower at Boston Logan Airport is also involved in the ongoing investigation.
Passengers on both flights that collided had to board different planes to continue their journeys, as the airline managed the aftermath of the collision.
