Capcom has released its financial results for the first nine months of its fiscal year, showing a significant increase in revenues. The company’s net sales have surged by 33% year-on-year, reaching ¥106 billion ($723 million), while operating income and net income have also seen substantial growth, up by 43% and 47% respectively.
One of the driving factors behind these positive results is the performance of Capcom’s recent game releases. Street Fighter 6, launched in June, has sold close to 3 million units by the end of 2023, with the sales surpassing the 3 million mark in early 2024. Additionally, the iconic title Resident Evil 4, which was released in March, has achieved a lifetime sales total of 6.48 million, further boosted by a new PSVR2 mode introduced last month.
Furthermore, the announcement of Monster Hunter Wild has contributed to strong sales for previous entries in the franchise, while the mobile version, Monster Hunter Now, has garnered 10 million downloads to date. Overall, the Digital Contents division of Capcom has sold 32.6 million units during the first nine months of the fiscal year, marking a 12% increase compared to the previous year.
Interestingly, despite the success of Street Fighter 6, it is the older titles in Capcom’s catalog that have been the primary drivers of sales growth. Catalog sales have surged by 21% year-over-year, reaching 26.7 million units.
Looking ahead, Capcom has maintained its full-year forecast, indicating that the holiday quarter performed in line with expectations.
