SZA to Perform at 66th Annual Grammy Awards

It has been announced that SZA will be performing at the 66th annual Grammy Awards, scheduled to take place on Feb. 4. The R&B singer has garnered significant attention as the top nominee at the event with a total of nine nods. Her album “SOS,” released in December 2022, has been nominated for album of the year, while its hit single “Kill Bill” is in the running for record of the year and song of the year. Additionally, various songs from the album have received nominations in the pop and R&B categories.

This year’s Grammy Awards could be a defining moment for SZA, who has previously experienced disappointment at the hands of the Recording Academy. Despite being nominated for five awards for her debut album “Ctrl” in 2018, she did not secure a win in any category. However, she did receive a Grammy in 2022 for her collaboration with Doja Cat on “Kiss Me More.”

Speaking to Variety in November, SZA expressed her perspective on the significance of the awards, stating, “I’ve lost enough times to know that investing in this moment is not wise. And not because it’s not important — I’m so happy for it — but because you have to place your importance on who you are as an artist and as a person. It’s my first time being this popular, and I saw a huge uptick in negativity at the exact same time.”

In addition to SZA, other performers announced for the event include Joni Mitchell, U2, Billy Joel, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Luke Combs, Travis Scott, and Burna Boy. The Grammys will be broadcast on CBS from L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena, commencing at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
