Kawasaki is set to launch the 2024 Ninja 500, an updated and enhanced version of the popular Ninja 400. The new model features a larger 451cc twin-cylinder engine, along with modernized styling, LED lighting, and a new LCD instrument cluster. Additionally, Kawasaki is introducing an up-spec SE model, which includes premium features such as a TFT dash and keyless ignition.
The 451cc engine is a significant upgrade from the previous 400cc model. According to Kawasaki, the new engine produces 31.7 lb.-ft. of torque at 7,500 rpm. The increased capacity is attributed to a 6.8mm-longer stroke, while the bore remains unchanged. Kawasaki has also made several modifications to the engine components, including the balancer shaft, clutch capacity, connecting rods, crankshaft, and piston, to optimize performance, efficiency, and durability.
The Ninja 500 utilizes a steel trellis frame with the engine serving as a stressed member, coupled with a die-cast aluminum swingarm mounting plate at the rear. The curb weight is stated as 377 pounds. The suspension remains unchanged, featuring a nonadjustable right-side-up telescopic fork at the front and a preload-adjustable rear shock at the rear. The braking system has also received an update with a new front brake master cylinder.
In terms of design, the Ninja 500 has been revamped to incorporate the Ninja ZX-6R’s LED headlights, resulting in a fresh front-end appearance. The motorcycle also boasts a new LCD instrument cluster and a redesigned seat, emphasizing a refined aesthetic.
With the introduction of the 2024 Ninja 500, Kawasaki continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing the performance and features of its small-capacity sportbikes, catering to the evolving needs of motorcycle enthusiasts.
