As the festive season approaches, the town of Farmington is gearing up for its highly anticipated Christmas Parade and Holiday Market. This year, the event is set to take place on Saturday, December 8, 2024, marking the official start of the holiday celebrations in western Washington County.
The Farmington Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor this year’s festivities, which promise to bring joy and community spirit to the area. The Holiday Market will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM in the grassy lot adjacent to the Farmington Public Library, located on Cimarron Way. This vibrant market is described by chamber representative Erika Murphy as a “small-scale Fall Festival,” showcasing a variety of local vendors.
Attendees can look forward to a delightful mix of offerings, including a coffee truck, handcrafted jewelry, crochet items, and unique Christmas decorations. Murphy emphasizes that there will be “a little bit of everything,” making it an ideal destination for holiday shopping and festive cheer.
The highlight of the evening will be the Farmington Christmas Parade, themed “Candy Cane Lane,” which will kick off at 6 PM. The parade will begin its journey from Farmington High School, winding its way along Southwinds Road and concluding at Cimarron Way. This year’s parade promises to be a spectacular display of creativity and holiday spirit, with various floats and community groups participating.
Following the parade, awards will be presented to the best floats and groups, adding an element of friendly competition to the festivities. This year, the parade has the honor of being led by Olympic champion Ryan Crouser from Farmington, who will serve as the grand marshal. Crouser is renowned for being the first shot putter in history to win three consecutive gold medals, making his presence at the event particularly special.
After the parade, families and children will have the opportunity to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Holiday Market. This is a cherished tradition where children can share their Christmas wishes, take photos, and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
The combination of the Christmas Parade and Holiday Market is expected to draw large crowds, fostering a sense of community and celebration among residents and visitors alike. With the holiday spirit in full swing, Farmington is set to create lasting memories for all who attend.
As the date approaches, excitement builds within the community, with many looking forward to the festive decorations, lively atmosphere, and the chance to connect with neighbors and friends during this special time of year. The event not only marks the start of the holiday season but also serves as a reminder of the importance of community connection and celebration.
