North Carolina Basketball Players Named to 2024 Naismith Midseason Team

Five North Carolina basketball players have been recognized for their outstanding performance by being named to the 2024 Naismith Midseason Team. Isaiah Evans, Jayden Quaintaince, and Drake Powell have been selected for their exceptional skills and contribution to the sport.

Isaiah Evans, Drake Powell, and Jayden Quaintance, all from North Carolina, have been honored with a spot on the Jersey Mikes Naismith Boys’ High School POY 2024 Midseason Team. These three players are highly regarded 5-star prospects according to the On3 Industry rankings. Evans is ranked as the No. 14 prospect in the country, Powell at No. 9, and Quaintance at the highest position of No. 8.

Isaiah Evans is committed to Duke, Drake Powell to UNC, and Jayden Quaintance to Kentucky. North Mecklenburg is currently at 13-3 overall this season, while Northwood stands at 12-3, with Powell averaging 19.2 points-per-game. Word of God’s national basketball team has achieved a 12-9 overall record.

On the girls’ side, two North Carolina athletes have also earned a place in the Midseason Team: Zamareya Jones of North Pitt and Sarah Strong of Grace Christian (Sanford). Both players are considered 5-star prospects in ESPN’s HoopGurlz recruiting rankings. Strong is the top-ranked prospect in the country, while Jones sits at No. 17 nationally.

Zamareya Jones is committed to NC State, and Sarah Strong is currently undecided. North Pitt’s girls’ basketball team is 11-3 overall so far in the 2023-24 season, while Grace Christian remains undefeated with a 19-0 overall record this winter.

This recognition highlights the exceptional talent and dedication of these young athletes, showcasing the promising future of basketball in North Carolina.
