Sennheiser Launches Affordable Profile Wireless Microphone System for Creators

Sennheiser has unveiled its latest innovation in portable audio technology with the introduction of the Profile Wireless microphone system. This new kit is designed to cater to the needs of content creators and videographers seeking an affordable yet versatile solution for their audio recording needs. Priced at $299, the Profile Wireless system includes a universal receiver, two compact clip-on microphones, and a portable charging solution, making it a competitive option in the market.

The Profile Wireless microphones are engineered for flexibility, allowing users to clip them onto clothing or attach them magnetically, providing a range of placement options. This feature is especially beneficial for those who require discreet audio capture without compromising on sound quality. Additionally, the transmitters are equipped with a lockable 3.5mm connector, enabling users to connect external microphones for enhanced audio performance.

One of the standout features of the Profile Wireless system is its two-channel receiver, which operates over a 2.4GHz wireless frequency. This setup boasts a remarkable range of over 800 feet in clear line-of-sight conditions. However, obstacles between the transmitter and receiver can reduce this range to approximately 490 feet. The system is designed to ensure reliable audio transmission, making it ideal for various recording environments.

Battery life is another critical consideration for content creators, and Sennheiser has addressed this with a robust solution. The microphones and wireless receiver offer around seven hours of battery life. To enhance usability during extended sessions, the Profile Wireless system includes a charging bar equipped with a 2,000mAh battery, allowing users to recharge their devices on the go.

For added security and reliability, the Profile Wireless microphones feature 16GB of built-in storage. This allows for an optional “Backup Recording Mode,” which automatically activates local recording if the connection to the wireless receiver falters. Furthermore, the system includes a “Safety Channel Mode” that captures a secondary audio track at a lower level, preventing distortion from louder sounds and ensuring a clean audio capture.

Connectivity is made simple with the Profile Wireless system. The included wireless receiver can easily connect to a variety of devices, including laptops, mobile devices, and cameras, using either a cable or a charging port adapter. This versatility makes it suitable for different recording setups, whether in a studio or on location.

While the Profile Wireless microphone system is not expected to ship until late 2024 or early 2025, it is currently available for preorder. This timeline positions it well within the competitive landscape of portable audio equipment, as it offers a compelling alternative to other popular systems such as the DJI Mic 2 and Shure MoveMic, which are priced higher and offer less flexibility in some features.

Overall, Sennheiser’s Profile Wireless microphone system stands out for its combination of affordability, versatility, and advanced features, making it an attractive option for content creators looking to elevate their audio recording capabilities.
