Scottsdale Police Department Increases Presence for 53rd Annual Barrett-Jackson Auction

Scottsdale, AZ – The Scottsdale Police Department is gearing up for the 53rd annual Barrett-Jackson Auction, one of the Valley’s biggest events, by increasing police presence in and around WestWorld. With thousands expected to gather for the auction, the department is taking measures to ensure the safety and security of attendees.

A team of officers will be directing traffic not only on Pima Road but also on WestWorld’s smaller roads like South Road, Polo Field Way, and WestWorld Way. Increased signage will be in place to guide drivers through the area, as these roads tend to get congested quickly during the event.

Given that alcohol will be available for purchase, the Scottsdale Police’s DUI Taskforce will be out in full force, with a taskforce truck onsite and an increased presence of officers around WestWorld to prevent impaired driving.

For those planning to attend the auction, Sgt. Allison Sempsis of the Scottsdale Police Department reminds everyone of the clear bag policy in place for the event. Attendees are required to use clear bags not exceeding 12′’ x 6′’ x 12′’, or a clear gallon bag. Certain items including weapons, video cameras, skateboards, drones, coolers, and non-service animals are prohibited from being brought into the venue.

With the event expected to draw a large international crowd, Sgt. Sempsis emphasized the importance of being prepared and staying safe. She advised attendees to arrive early, drive safely, secure their belongings, and stay hydrated. Additionally, officers and security teams will be readily available to assist attendees, with medical teams onsite as well.

The Barrett-Jackson Auction will run from January 20 to January 28, offering a week-long experience for car enthusiasts and collectors from around the world.
