In a significant move towards sustainability and corporate responsibility, BearingPoint, a European-origin management and technology consultancy, has officially joined the global B Corp movement. This prestigious certification reflects BearingPoint’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
To achieve B Corp status, companies must undergo a comprehensive assessment that evaluates their performance in five critical areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Only those organizations that excel across these dimensions, demonstrating exemplary policies and achievements, are granted this certification.
B Lab, the organization behind the B Corp movement, has confirmed that BearingPoint has met its stringent standards for social, human, and environmental impact, alongside accountability and transparency. In their announcement, B Lab expressed enthusiasm for BearingPoint’s inclusion in the B Corp community, highlighting the firm’s capacity to inspire clients worldwide and drive collective action on pressing global challenges.
Axelle Paquer, who leads the Sustainability portfolio within BearingPoint’s management committee, remarked that this recognition represents a significant milestone in the firm’s sustainability journey, which began four years ago. “We are incredibly proud to have achieved B Corp certification, a goal we set in 2020. This accomplishment is one of the four strategic priorities outlined in our Sustainability Strategy 2025, and we have dedicated ourselves to establishing ambitious targets while accelerating our impact both locally and globally,” she stated.
Paquer emphasized that obtaining B Corp certification underscores BearingPoint’s dedication to sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion. This certification not only enhances the firm’s reputation but also brings with it a host of responsibilities. Currently, there are approximately 9,000 businesses worldwide that have earned the B Corp certified status. To retain this certification, companies must consistently uphold their standards and undergo a reevaluation every three years.
Looking ahead, Paquer indicated that BearingPoint intends to leverage its new B Corp status to progress towards its ambitious sustainability objectives. These goals encompass a range of initiatives, including enhancing diversity and inclusion within teams, increasing female representation in leadership roles, significantly reducing CO2 emissions, and providing support to local communities.
With revenues exceeding €1 billion, BearingPoint stands as one of the largest management and technology consulting firms with European roots. The firm has a rich heritage that dates back to the early 20th century, and its recent achievement solidifies its position as a leader in promoting sustainable business practices.
As BearingPoint embarks on this new chapter as a certified B Corp, the firm is poised to make a lasting impact on the consulting industry and beyond, championing values that resonate with a growing number of consumers and businesses alike.
