Following their impressive championship win at the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT) in April, the Illini are currently exploring Italy while competing in a couple of exhibition matches.

In their inaugural game held on August 4, 2024, the Illini faced off against a select team comprised of players from Spain and Italy, emerging victorious with a close score of 67-65. Senior player Adalia McKenzie led the scoring for the Illini, contributing 11 points, while fifth-year center Kendall Bostic showcased her skills with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.

Head coach Shauna Green emphasized the significance of this trip beyond just the games. She noted that while the outcomes of these exhibition matches are not crucial, they provide an invaluable opportunity for team bonding and practicing together in a competitive environment.
