The official run-time for the upcoming movie Madame Web has been revealed, and it breaks a record for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. According to a Norwegian ticketing company website, Madame Web will run for (removed at the request of the studio) with credits, making it the longest Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) movie yet. This surpasses the previous record held by 2018’s Venom (112 mins), with other SSU films, Morbius (2022) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), clocking in at 104 minutes and 97 minutes respectively.
It is interesting to note that none of these movies have passed the 2-hour mark, while only a handful of MCU entries have come in under 120 minutes. The trend might be starting to change with Madame Web’s extended run-time.
The movie features Dakota Johnson as the clairvoyant Cassandra Webb, who uses her abilities to save a group of young women from a villainous Spider-Man lookalike. The girls she is protecting are all destined to become heroes with Spider-like powers of their own.
Madame Web also stars Emma Roberts and Adam Scott, with speculations about their roles as Peter Parker’s mother, Mary, and beloved Uncle Ben. Sony has other Spider-Man Universe movies slated for release, including a third Venom movie and Kraven the Hunter.
The official synopsis describes Madame Web as a suspense-driven thriller that tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. It features Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. The movie is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2024.
