LANSING, Mich. – A recent poll conducted in Michigan by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) revealed that likely voters in the state are concerned about the impact of the proposed Biden-Harris gas-car ban on the economy. The survey, conducted between June 29 and July 1 by the Remington Research Group, highlighted the sentiment of likely voters on various key issues.

The majority of Michiganders expressed that they believe the United States is currently on the wrong track, with 57% of respondents holding this view. Additionally, 63% of likely voters in Michigan oppose the idea of banning new gas-powered vehicles, while 68% consider a candidate’s stance on this issue as important when deciding their vote.

Furthermore, the poll indicated that 96% of likely voters in Michigan recognize the importance of small businesses to a healthy economy. Despite this acknowledgment, 41% of respondents believe that regulations such as the emissions mandate are detrimental to small businesses.

In response to the findings, NFIB Michigan State Director Amanda Fisher emphasized the need for leaders in Washington and Lansing to prioritize small businesses and reconsider regulations like the EPA’s gas car ban. Fisher highlighted the negative impact of burdensome regulations and unpopular policies on Michiganders.

AFPM President and CEO Chet Thompson echoed similar sentiments, stating that the American people are against government interventions like the gas car ban and are advocating for policies that align with the needs and preferences of families.

Both Fisher and Thompson urged elected officials to pay attention to the concerns of the public and take action to address them. The survey results underscore the importance of considering voter sentiments on key issues such as the gas-car ban in shaping policies moving forward.
