Samsung has announced that it is not done with Bixby yet, despite the rollout of Galaxy AI. The company claims that the digital assistant is still active and will continue to grow, leaving the future role of Bixby uncertain.
The introduction of Galaxy AI, a hybrid on-device and cloud-based AI solution, was a highlight feature of the Galaxy S24. It offers barrier-free communication, simplified productivity, and unconstrained creativity, with capabilities ranging from answering questions to editing images and more.

As some of Galaxy AI’s capabilities intersect with Bixby’s, questions have arisen about the future of Samsung’s digital assistant. Bixby, having lost its purpose over the years with the rise of support for Alexa and Google Assistant in Samsung products, now faces overshadowing by Galaxy AI.
However, Samsung has made it clear that Bixby will coexist with Galaxy AI and continue to grow. The company mentioned that Bixby can be considered a feature within Galaxy AI and will play a role in helping SmartThings and Bixby work together. For instance, Bixby can automatically route commands to the most appropriate devices based on the user’s location and activities.
