Dubreq Unveils Stylophone CPM DS-2 Analog Drone Synthesizer

Brit musical instrument maker Dubreq has unveiled the latest addition to its iconic Stylophone line, the Stylophone CPM DS-2 Analog Drone Synthesizer. This new release marks a significant departure from the traditional pocket synths that have been popular since the late 1960s.

The DS-2 is the first in a new pro-audio Compact Portable Modular range and features a host of impressive capabilities. It boasts two analog oscillators, two sub-oscillators, two filters with drive, 14 analog LFO waveforms, two LFO wave selectors, seven LFO routing switches, and five LFO depth attenuverters. Additionally, it offers 12 modular patch points for advanced sound manipulation.

Based around two 3340 analog oscillators and a pair of sub-oscillators, the DS-2 allows for dynamic waveform blending through its Ultra LFO section. Users can control the drone voicings with filter cutoff and volume knobs, while also linking the pitch of the oscillators for harmonious tuning or enabling hard sync for more experimental sounds.

The unit is Eurorack compatible, providing flexibility for integration into modular setups. It also includes analog filters with drive, vintage modulated delay, and a selection of eight vintage-inspired reverb algorithms. With a pair of stereo outputs, an aux input, and the option to power the device with mains or AA-sized batteries, the DS-2 is designed to cater to a wide range of creative needs.

Dubreq has positioned the Stylophone CPM DS-2 as an innovative tool for sound creation in the studio, on stage, or on the go. The synthesizer is currently available for pre-order at a price of US$259, offering a promising option for musicians and sound enthusiasts looking to explore new sonic possibilities.
