Summer Games Done Quick 2024: Speedrunning for Charity

Summer is here, and with it comes the excitement of speedrunning marathons for charity. The 2024 edition of Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) is set to kick off on June 30th and will run until July 6th. This annual event is a favorite among gamers and enthusiasts, featuring a lineup of thrilling speedruns for popular games such as Balatro, Alan Wake 2, Elden Ring, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Outer Wilds.

One of the most anticipated runs of the event is a live speedrun by Peanut Butter, the famous shiba inu who wowed audiences with a remote run of the NES game Gyromite earlier this year. At SGDQ, Peanut Butter will be showcasing his skills in Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball for the Super NES, aiming to win a game in just 30 minutes. The run is scheduled for July 4th at 8:43PM ET.

The event will commence with the first run featuring Yoshi’s Story, which will take place at 1PM ET. Viewers can catch all the action on the Games Done Quick Twitch channel, and for those who miss it, runs are typically uploaded to the Games Done Quick YouTube channel. SGDQ, streaming from Minneapolis, is dedicated to raising funds for Doctors Without Borders.

As the gaming community gears up for a week of thrilling speedruns and charitable contributions, SGDQ 2024 promises to be an event to remember. Stay tuned for more updates and highlights from this year’s Summer Games Done Quick marathon!
