Valorant Update 9.00 Patch Notes Revealed: Iso Nerf and New Map Abyss

Riot Games has unveiled the highly anticipated patch notes for Valorant update 9.00, bringing significant changes to the popular agent Iso. Following a period where Iso dominated the game as the top agent, players can now expect a major nerf to address the imbalance.

Previously, Iso received a substantial buff in the last major patch, propelling him to the forefront of Valorant’s agent roster. However, his newfound strength quickly led to calls from top players for a nerf before the next major update. The 9.00 patch notes have answered these calls by introducing key adjustments to Iso’s abilities.

The most notable change is the alteration to Iso’s Double Tap ability, which will no longer refresh upon achieving two kills. This modification aims to prevent Iso from maintaining a near-permanent shield in rounds. Additionally, the buff duration for Double Tap has been reduced from 20 seconds to 12, requiring players to strategically engage with the orbs that appear after each kill to prolong the buff.

While some players had hoped for a complete agent rework, the current changes are substantial enough to reposition Iso as a balanced agent rather than an essential pick in every game. The impact of these adjustments remains to be seen in gameplay, but initial assessments suggest a significant nerf to Iso’s capabilities.

Aside from the Iso nerf, the 9.00 patch introduces the new map Abyss to the ranked map pool on PC, accompanied by bug fixes to address lingering issues since the map’s recent launch. For Valorant console players, the patch heralds the arrival of ranked mode, along with numerous bug fixes. However, a critical issue involving the surrender menu potentially locking controls for the remainder of the round has prompted its temporary removal until a resolution is implemented.

Furthermore, the 9.00 patch marks the commencement of a new Valorant Episode, featuring a fresh battle pass and skin line. The premium Evori Dreamwings skin line debuts on June 27, showcasing adorable animal motifs atop weapons that react to player actions.
