Iowa Guard Caitlin Clark Makes History with 4th Place on NCAA Women’s Basketball Career Scoring List
Iowa guard Caitlin Clark made history on Tuesday as she moved into the fourth place on the NCAA women’s basketball career scoring list. The No. 2 Hawkeyes secured their 15th consecutive win as Clark scored a game-high 32 points, bringing her total to 3,306 points. Despite the absence of starting forward Hannah Stuelke due to a lower leg injury, the Hawkeyes dominated the visiting Wisconsin team with a final score of 96-50, extending their winning streak against the Badgers to 29 games. With an overall record of 18-1 and leading the Big Ten at 7-0, Iowa continues to showcase their prowess on the court.
In addition to her impressive scoring, Clark also contributed seven rebounds and five assists during the game. Displaying remarkable consistency, she has been a key player in the Hawkeyes’ recent victories, making six of the team’s 15 3-pointers for the third consecutive game.
Clark surpassed former Baylor standout center Brittney Griner’s record of 3,306 points, achieving this milestone during the game against Wisconsin. With her current total, Clark is now eyeing the third position on the all-time scoring list, currently held by former Missouri State guard Jackie Stiles at 3,393 points. To surpass Stiles, Clark needs 88 more points.
Leading the scoring list are guard Kelsey Mitchell with 3,402 points and guard Kelsey Plum with 3,527 points. Both Mitchell and Plum have transitioned to successful careers in the WNBA, with Griner also making a mark in the league with the Phoenix Mercury.
Clark’s exceptional performance has led to an average of 31.0 points per game, positioning her to potentially claim the top spot on the scoring list by the second or third week of February. Her remarkable consistency is evident in her impressive record of making at least one 3-pointer in 76 consecutive games.
