Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has unveiled a thrilling new gameplay trailer, teeming with intense action, bloodshed, and an array of impressive weaponry. The highly-anticipated third-person shooter hack-n-slash, initially announced in 2021, has finally given fans a closer look at what’s in store ahead of its launch later this year.
Set a century after its predecessor, the game follows Ultramarines Lieutenant Demetrian Titus, a genetically enhanced super soldier who finds himself on a mission to prove his loyalty after being demoted. The six-minute gameplay trailer, narrated by creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick, delves into the game’s story campaign, multiplayer co-op modes, and progression systems.
One of the standout features highlighted in the trailer is the ‘swarm technology’ utilized by the development team, allowing for the presence of hundreds of enemies on screen simultaneously. Additionally, players were given a glimpse of the melee finisher move, which, when executed successfully, replenishes the player’s armor and enables them to stay in the battle longer.
Moreover, the game features a headquarters hub where players can regroup between missions, interact with personnel, choose quests, and customize their loadout. In addition to the campaign, players can engage in Operations, a PvE mode emphasizing replayability and cooperation.
Operations mode enables players to utilize Armoury Data and experience gained on the battlefield to enhance each class with up to 25 perks, shaping their unique play style. Furthermore, Armoury Data allows for the leveling up of weapons with each mission completion, unlocking more potent variants and exclusive cosmetics.
For those inclined towards PvP action, Space Marine 2 offers a 6v6 mode named Eternal War, featuring three distinct match types: Deathmatch, Seize Ground, and Capture and Control. Whether in Operations or Eternal War, players are in for an adrenaline-fueled experience filled with thrilling battles and strategic gameplay.
