The T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 stage is set to kick off with excitement as the top eight teams have been confirmed after Bangladesh secured their spot with a victory over Nepal. This crucial phase of the tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 19, and will run until Tuesday, June 25.
The Super 8 stage is the second phase of the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the top two teams from each initial group will progress. The teams that have qualified for this stage include India, England, Australia, Afghanistan, West Indies, USA, South Africa, and Bangladesh. England’s qualification was sealed after a win against Namibia, while Bangladesh became the final team to qualify following their triumph over Nepal.
The Super 8 stage is divided into two groups, Group 1 and Group 2. Group 1 will consist of the top finishers from Groups A and C, and the second-placed teams from Groups B and D. Group 2 will feature the winners from Groups B and D, along with the runners-up from Groups A and C.
Notably, the ICC introduced pre-tournament seedings for the first time in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The top eight teams were pre-seeded according to the T20I rankings, with India, Pakistan, England, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, South Africa, and Sri Lanka receiving the seedings. These seedings will determine the fixtures for the Super 8 round, regardless of the teams’ standings in the initial group stage.
