Private Jets Descend on Montreal for Canadian Grand Prix

Private jets are set to descend on Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix, adding to the excitement of the elite event. Analytics firm WingX predicts that approximately 115 business jets will land in Montreal over the weekend, marking a significant increase from the usual daily average.

Last year, the event saw a surge in business jets arriving from various countries, showcasing the growing demand for private air travel post-COVID-19. The influx of race teams, executives, and celebrities is expected to contribute to a rise in emissions in the city.

According to the David Suzuki Foundation, the environmental impact of private jets is a concern, as these planes are significantly more polluting than commercial aircraft on a per-passenger basis. However, Barry Prentice from the University of Manitoba’s transport institute highlights the positive role of private jets in boosting economic activity and tourism.

As the excitement builds for the F1 race in Montreal, the debate over the environmental impact of private jets continues. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
