A family in Texas had a heart-stopping experience at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center when a giraffe accidentally picked up their toddler during a drive-thru safari. The incident occurred on June 1, when Paisley Toten, a 2-year-old girl, was in the back of a pickup truck with her mom feeding the animals. A giraffe grabbed her shirt and lifted her into the air, which was captured on video by a car behind them.
Paisley’s father, Jason Toten, described the moment as the giraffe unexpectedly picked up his daughter. He mentioned that it was a complete accident and they had not violated any rules. Fortunately, Paisley was quickly dropped by the giraffe, and her mother caught her, ensuring no one was hurt.
Despite the scare, the family later visited the gift shop at Fossil Rim, where Paisley received a toy giraffe as a gift. Jason Toten expressed that apart from this incident, their trip to Fossil Rim was enjoyable, and they intend to return in the future.
According to the Fossil Rim road rules, visitors are allowed to ride in the bed of a truck as long as there is an adult present in the bed and everyone can safely fit inside the vehicle in case of an emergency.
