Bear Breaks into California Home, Leaves with Oreos

A bear made quite a stir in Monrovia, California, when it broke into a home and left with a pack of Oreos, much to the surprise of neighbors. The incident, which occurred on Canyon Crest Drive, was captured on video by Eyewitness News.

According to witnesses, the hungry bear managed to enter the home through a window and emerged with a distinctive blue pack of Oreo cookies in its mouth. Neighbor Vina Khoury expressed her fear, stating, ‘I was scared to death. He was so close. That never happened before.’

This is not the first time the neighborhood has had encounters with bears. Just last week, a smaller bear invaded the same family’s car, making off with groceries that included the coveted Oreos. Neighbor Dominic Sbicca mentioned that bears have been increasingly bold in the area, asserting their territories.

Reflecting on a previous incident, Khoury shared her own encounter when a bear broke into her garage to retrieve a chocolate cake from her refrigerator. The recent break-in has left residents on edge, with Khoury expressing concern about leaving windows open even with screens in place.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the bear’s visit. Eyewitness News attempted to contact the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for further information but has not received a response.

It seems that wildlife encounters are becoming more common in the Monrovia area, prompting residents to be more vigilant about securing their homes. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of wildlife conservation and coexisting peacefully with nature.
