The Yale Keypad Touch, compatible with fourth-gen August Wi-Fi Smart Lock, third-gen August Smart Lock Pro, third-gen August Smart Lock, and the new Yale Approach Lock with Wi-Fi, offers fingerprint and key code access along with one-touch locking functionality.

Priced at $109.99, the Yale Keypad Touch is available for purchase on ShopYaleHome.com and August.com. For existing August lock owners, this may seem like a steep upgrade, but the convenience of touch-to-unlock may justify the cost. Alternatively, for those in the market for a new lock, the Keypad Touch is bundled with Yale’s Approach lock for $229.99 or the August Wi-Fi-Smart Lock for $249.99.

These retrofit locks, like the August models, only replace the interior part of the existing lock, allowing users to retain the original front hardware and key functionality. This makes them a practical choice for renters or those with specialized door hardware they wish to keep. However, the limitation of these retrofit locks is the absence of features like keypads or fingerprint readers, which the wireless keypad addresses by connecting to the lock via Bluetooth.

August’s new smart locks are now compatible with the Yale keypad, which includes a built-in fingerprint reader. This marks the first time biometric access is offered for August locks, providing users with a convenient and secure way to unlock their doors. The Yale Keypad and Keypad Touch also boast an extended Bluetooth range of up to 30 feet, offering more flexibility in placement.
