Ducati, the renowned Italian motorcycle manufacturer, is paying tribute to the legendary Brazilian racing driver, Ayrton Senna, with the introduction of a special edition Monster motorcycle. Ayrton Senna, known for his prowess in Formula 1 racing, was also an avid motorcyclist who had a strong affinity for Ducati bikes, particularly his Ducati 851 SPK.
Thirty years after Senna’s passing, Ducati has unveiled the Monster Senna special edition, based on the powerful 937cc Testastretta engine Monster. This unique motorcycle features a striking design inspired by Senna’s iconic helmet colors, incorporating shades of yellow, green, and blue as a tribute to the Brazilian flag.
Equipped with a twin-cylinder engine producing 111 horsepower, fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, and high-performance Brembo Stylema braking system, the Ducati Monster Senna promises an exhilarating riding experience. The bike is also 10 pounds lighter than the standard model, weighing in at 385 pounds without fuel.
Only 341 units of the Monster Senna will be produced, each adorned with a special plaque on the triple clamp indicating the model name and number. Additionally, the motorcycle will come with a dedicated cover and exclusive features such as cornering adjustable ABS, a homologated Termignoni exhaust silencer, and a yellow engine guard.
Ducati’s decision to honor Senna with a bike based on the classic Monster frame holds significance, as the racing icon was an early adopter of the Monster series. Notably, Senna was among the first owners of the original Monster 900 when it was launched in 1990. His passion for Ducati motorcycles was further demonstrated when he collaborated with the company to create the limited edition 916 Senna bike, characterized by a distinctive anthracite grey, matt black, and red color scheme.
Despite Senna’s untimely demise before the production of the 916 Senna, Ducati continued to commemorate his legacy with subsequent releases, including the limited edition 1199 Panigale sport bikes in 2014. The Monster Senna joins this lineage of exclusive Ducati models dedicated to the memory of the Brazilian racing icon.
