Ironmace Games has just unveiled a major update for their game, Dark and Darker, and it’s causing quite a stir among the gaming community. The new patch, known as Hotfix 28, reintroduces the highly anticipated spectator mode, along with significant changes to map rotation and various in-game stats.
The return of the spectator mode, which was previously removed in a controversial move, has been met with enthusiasm from players. According to Ironmace Games, the decision to bring back this feature was driven by the realization that its removal had only marginally reduced instances of pre-teaming while eliminating a highly enjoyable aspect of the game.
With the reintroduction of the spectator mode, players can now spectate and report others for up to a minute after their party is eliminated from a High Roller dungeon. Ironmace Games has also expressed their commitment to further improving this feature to maintain a clean in-game environment.
Additionally, the update includes the replacement of the Howling Crypts map in the rotation with another instance of the Ruins, following positive feedback from the community regarding the new three-layer Ruins. The development team aims to align the game’s experience with their original vision, emphasizing extended session durations and riskier decision-making.
Furthermore, adjustments have been made to the Goblin Cave map to address performance issues, including reducing monster density and increasing drop rates from various in-game sources such as barrels, mimics, and trolls.
For players eager to delve deeper into the specifics of the update, the full patch notes for Hotfix 28 are available on the official Dark and Darker Discord server, providing comprehensive details on all the stat adjustments and map tweaks. Ironmace Games has also shared an official statement accompanying the update, offering insights into the studio’s decision-making process.
