Atari 400 Mini: A Nostalgic Gaming Experience

The latest addition to the mini-console trend is the upcoming release of the adorable Atari 400 Mini, set to hit the shelves in March. Developed by Plaion and Retro Games Ltd., this shrunken-down version of the original 1979 Atari 400 comes bundled with 25 preinstalled games from Atari’s 8-bit era, offering a nostalgic gaming experience for enthusiasts.

Measuring about half the size of its predecessor, the 400 Mini features an updated version of the CX40 Atari joystick with USB support, allowing users to connect it to other devices. Additionally, the console is equipped with five USB ports and an HDMI port, enabling seamless connectivity to modern televisions and the option to connect joysticks or keyboards.

Among the preinstalled games are classic titles such as Berzerk, Millipede, Miner 2049er, M.U.L.E., and Star Raiders II. To cater to modern gaming preferences, these games also offer features like the ability to rewind the action and multiple save slots, adding a contemporary twist to the retro gaming experience.

Retro Games Ltd. has previously released miniaturized versions of the Amiga 500 and the Commodore 64, and with the upcoming launch of the Atari 400 Mini, the company continues to tap into the nostalgia of gaming enthusiasts. Priced at $119.99, the 400 Mini is currently available for preorders, with its official release date set for March 28th.
