Salmonella Contamination Prompts Schnuck Markets Cheese Spread Recall

Recent news has brought to light a concerning issue in the confectionery industry, as a recall has hit the sector hard. In a recent development, Schnuck Markets has issued a recall for three of its private label cheese spreads due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall was prompted by a notification from the vendor, Topco Associates, who received a recall notice from Schreiber Foods regarding the whey protein concentrate used in the products.

A spokesperson for Schnucks confirmed the recall, stating that no illnesses related to the products have been reported. The affected items, which have been removed from 107 out of 115 locations, include Schnucks Whip Cream Spread (UPC 4131858005; Best By 8/8/2024), Schnucks Strawberry Spread (UPC 4131858007; Best By 9/8/2024), and Schnucks Cream Cheese Spread (UPC 4131858023; Best By 10/8/2024).
