Comcast Awarded $61 Million to Expand Network in Pennsylvania

Comcast has been awarded over $61 million by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to expand its network across 158 municipalities as part of the Broadband Infrastructure Program. The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority has granted this funding to bring gigabit plus speeds to homes and businesses that were previously underserved with high-speed Internet.

Residents and businesses in these areas will soon have access to Comcast’s full range of services, including Xfinity Internet, Xfinity TV & Streaming, Xfinity Mobile, Comcast Business Internet, and mobile services. The completion of these projects is expected by late 2026.

Ricky Frazier Jr., Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Keystone Region, expressed excitement about the opportunity to connect more Pennsylvanians to high-quality Internet services. The company aims to empower these communities to engage in the digital economy and access the benefits of the Internet.

Comcast’s investment will enable the expansion of the nation’s largest and most reliable network to 13 counties in Pennsylvania, including Adams, Beaver, Berks, Blair, Cambria, Chester, Cumberland, Indiana, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Washington, Wyoming, and York counties.

Washington County in Western Pennsylvania has also pledged matching funding to Comcast to extend Internet services to its residents and businesses. John Timney, Executive Director of Washington County Authority, highlighted the positive impact of high-speed Internet on quality of life, property values, and the availability of resources like Internet Essentials for low-income households.

Once construction begins, residents and businesses can stay updated on the progress by visiting Xfinity.com/MyTown.
